Last year André Allen Anjos, previously known for his indie-electronic project RAC (Remix Artist Collective) who were most popular for their unique re-interpretive take on pop songs, released his debut studio album “Strangers” which featured an impressive roster of guest vocals such as Matthew Koma, Tokyo Police Club, Tegan and Sara, and many more.

One of the songs on the album, We Belong featuring Colorado native Katie Herzig, is a radiant Indie Dance crowd-pleaser that brings in influences from earlier RAC remixes. Starting with a reverb-heavy piano arpeggio surrounded by distant vocals encapsulates the listener, and slowly builds into a carefree synth breakdown. Just when you think you’ve heard it all Anjos brings in a robust string quartet elaborating on the previous chords. This combined with powerful drums and appealing vocals provides a perfect ending to the song.

One week ago, electronic duo ODESZA added their own remarkable touch to We Belong and it couldn’t be more perfect. The remix starts with a bubbly tambourine filled rhythm combined with ODESZA’s signature vocal chopping. Repetitive piano jabs with drumstick clicks take part in a minute long buildup that culminates to the final breakdown of the remix: Uplifting chords, syncopated high hats, and a groovy feel-good vibe.

The remix is released currently on Interscope Records and you can support ODESZA and RAC by buying it here
